Honestly, I think a good wardrobe needs 1 nice coat for more formal events, 1 coat for everyday cute outfits and 1 coat for running around in workout clothes.  I got away with just having one coat TOTAL for years and years and was fINE, but I have been on a mission to make sure that I've got one covering each base since we began spending so much time in Colorado in the winter.  Layers are important but blocking wind is major.  While in Texas we can get away with sweaters and a light jacket but OMG the hunt for a cute jacket to compliment outfits has been a beast and expensive.

UNTIL NOW....  I stumbled on this coat on amazon for well so inexpensive and cannot tell you how much I love it!  Had to share...it is one of those finds that cannot be kept to myself!  It comes in 4 adorable colors but I am a big fan of the navy and the olive... both are neutral and will go with everything!
